Committee to Conduct an Interim Study of the Requirements for Reapportionment and Redistricting in the State of Nevada (SCR9, 2019)
Summary
Senate Concurrent Resolution 9 (2019) directed the Legislative Commission to appoint a committee to study the requirements for reapportionment and redistricting in Nevada and make recommendations to the 2021 Legislature in conjunction with data received from the decennial census of 2020. The study required: (1) reviewing case law concerning the legal requirements for redistricting and reapportionment; (2) examining programs and systems for planning the task of reapportionment and redistricting to include computer equipment, software, and training of personnel; and (3) continuing the state’s participation in programs of the United States Census Bureau, including the program to increase the general public’s awareness of the census to ensure a complete and accurate count of all Nevadans in 2020.
