CHAPTER 1

Chapter 1An Act to create a legislative fund.

 

[Approved February 7, 1920]

 

The People of the State of Nevada, represented in Senate and

Assembly, do enact as follows:

 

      Section1.  For the purpose of paying the mileage and the per diem of members of the present legislature, the salaries of the attaches, and the incidental expenses of the respective houses thereof, the state treasurer is hereby authorized and required to set apart, from any money now in the general fund not otherwise especially appropriated, the sum of five thousand ($5,000) dollars, which shall constitute the legislative fund.

      Sec.2.  The state controller is hereby authorized and required to draw his warrants on said fund in favor of the members and attaches of the senate and assembly, for per diem, mileage, stationery allowance, compensation and incidental expenses of the respective houses, when properly certified to, in accordance with law, and the state treasurer is hereby authorized and required to pay the same.

      Sec.3.  All moneys remaining in said fund, at the adjournment of the legislature, shall revert to the general fund.

      Whereas, Both houses of the sixty-sixth Congress of the United States of America, at the first session thereof, by a constitutional majority of two-thirds thereof, made the following proposition to amend the constitution of the United States of America, in the following words, to wit:

Joint Resolution

      Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each house concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the constitution, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several states:

       The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

 

Therefore, be it

      Resolved by the Assembly of the State of Nevada, the Senate concurring, That said proposed amendment to the constitution of the United States of America be, and the same hereby is ratified by the legislature of the State of Nevada; that certified copies of this preamble and joint and concurrent resolution be forwarded by the governor of this state to the president of the United States, to the secretary of state of the United States, to the presiding officer of the United States senate, and to the speaker of the house of representatives of the United States.
