SUMMARY—Proposes to amend Nevada Constitution to provide for payment of compensation to members of Legislature for each day of service during regular and special sessions and to provide for payment of reasonable allowances to such members for postage, express charges, newspapers, telecommunications and stationery. 1-1  Senate Joint RESOLUTION—Proposing to amend the Nevada Constitution to provide for the payment of compensation to the members of the Legislature for each day of service during regular and special sessions and to provide
for the payment of reasonable allowances to such members for postage, express charges, newspapers, telecommunications and stationery.

 

1-2  Resolved by the Senate and Assembly of the State of

1-3  Nevada, Jointly, That Section 33 of Article 4 of the Nevada

1-4  Constitution be amended to read as follows:

1-5  [Sec:] Sec. 33.  The members of the Legislature shall

1-6  receive for their services, a compensation to be fixed by law

1-7  and paid out of the public treasury, for [not to exceed 60

1-8  days]each day of serviceduring any regular session of the

1-9  legislature and [not to exceed 20 days] during any special

1-10  session convened by the governor; but no increase of such

1-11  compensation shall take effect during the term for which the

1-12  members of either house shall have been elected Provided,

1-13  that an appropriation may be made for the payment of [such

1-14  actual expenses as] reasonable allowances to members of the


2-1  Legislature [may incur] for expenses incurred for postage,

2-2  express charges, newspapers, telecommunications and

2-3  stationery [not exceeding the sum of Sixty dollars for] during

2-4  any general or special session . [to each member; and

2-5  Furthermore Provided, that the Speaker of the Assembly, and

2-6  Lieutenant Governor, as President of the Senate, shall each,

2-7  during the time of their actual attendance as such presiding

2-8  officers receive an additional allowance of two dollars per

2-9  diem.]
