AN ACT relating to education; authorizing regional training programs for the professional development of teachers and administrators to facilitate access to information concerning issues related to suicide among pupils; providing that receipt of or access to such information does not create an additional duty; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. Chapter 391 of NRS is hereby amended by adding

1-2  thereto a new section to read as follows:

1-3  1.  The governing body of a regional training program may

1-4  facilitate and coordinate access to information by teachers and

1-5  administrators concerning issues related to suicide among pupils.

1-6  Such information must be offered for educational purposes only.


2-1  2.  Receipt of or access to information pursuant to subsection

2-2  1 does not create a duty for any person in addition to those duties

2-3  otherwise required in the course of his employment.

2-4  Sec. 2.  NRS 391.500 is hereby amended to read as follows:

2-5  391.500  As used in NRS 391.500 to 391.556, inclusive, and

2-6  section 1 of this act, unless the context otherwise requires, the

2-7  words and terms defined in NRS 391.504 and 391.508 have the

2-8  meanings ascribed to them in those sections.

2-9  Sec. 3.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
