AN ACT relating to education; making an appropriation to the Clark County School District for support of its adult family literacy project, Success Through English Program (STEP); making an appropriation to the University and Community College System of Nevada for support of the Southern and Northern Nevada Writing Projects; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State
1-2 General Fund to the Clark County School District the sum of
1-3 $200,000 for support of its adult family literacy project, Success
1-4 Through English Program (STEP).
1-5 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by
1-6 subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,
1-7 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as all payments
1-8 of money committed have been made.
2-1 Sec. 2. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State
2-2 General Fund to the University and Community College System of
2-3 Nevada the sum of $200,000 for support of the Southern Nevada
2-4 Writing Project and the Northern Nevada Writing Project.
2-5 2. The money appropriated by subsection 1 must be allocated
2-6 equally between the Southern Nevada Writing Project and the
2-7 Northern Nevada Writing Project for deposit in separate accounts
2-8 for each project.
2-9 3. Disbursements from these accounts to pay the expenses of
2-10 the projects must be made by the Board of Regents of the University
2-11 of Nevada upon the request of the administrator of the respective
2-12 project.
2-13 4. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by
2-14 subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,
2-15 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as all payments
2-16 of money committed have been made.
2-17 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
