Prayer by the Chaplain, Marlene Wendell.

Heavenly Father, with humble hearts filled with love and gratitude, we come before Your throne of mercy and grace, rejoicing in Your goodness. We ask for Your peace to come upon each and every member of the Nevada Legislature and all the staff, as they are diligently pursuing the highest good for the people of the state of Nevada.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4, verse 4 and following, “Rejoice in the Lord always, delight, gladden yourselves in Him; again I say, rejoice. The Lord is near. He is coming soon. Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace, which transcends all understanding, shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, the things which you learned and received and heard, saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

You have revealed Yourself throughout Scripture, as Jehovah Shalom, the Lord is Peace. Your shalom means wholeness, security, well-being, prosperity, peace, and friendship, nothing missing and nothing broken in our lives, when we place our trust in You.

Today we release our faith and receive the God-kind of peace, peace that passes all understanding. Thank you, Father God.

The following amendment was proposed by the Committee on
Ways and Means:

Amendment No. 567.

Amend the bill as a whole by deleting sections 1 and 2 and renumbering sec. 3 as section 1.

Amend the bill as a whole by deleting sections 4 through 6 and renumbering sec. 7 as sec. 2.

Amend the title of the bill to read as follows:

“AN ACT relating to children; authorizing an employee of an agency which provides child welfare services to provide maintenance and special services to certain children under certain circumstances; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.”.

Amend the summary of the bill to read as follows:

“SUMMARY—Authorizes employee of agency which provides child welfare services to provide maintenance and special services to certain children under certain circumstances. (BDR 38‑690)”.

Amend the resolution, page 2, by deleting lines 12 and 13 and inserting: “years (excepting those elected at said first election ~~[)]~~ and except as otherwise provided by the Legislature pursuant to subsection 2) from and including”.

Amend the resolution, page 2, by deleting lines 24 through 28 and inserting:

“2. The Legislature may shorten or lengthen the term of a District Judge as necessary to provide, as nearly as possible, for one-third of the total number of Judges to be elected every 2 years.”.
