God, it's Friday. In the nursery rhymes, Solomon Grundy got worse on Friday before dying on Saturday, and a child born on Friday is loving and giving. From childhood, we’ve been taught to say, “Thank God, it’s Friday.” So, thank You, God, it’s Friday! May our first weekend here bring us rest, peace, and revitalization, so we can do the work the people and You have called us to do. In the Name of the One who promises us real rest.

Assemblywoman Buckley moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.

Assembly Bill No. 52—AN ACT relating to veterans; providing for the issuance of standard high school diplomas to certain veterans who served in the Armed Forces during World War II; requiring school districts to establish guidelines for identifying and issuing standard high school diplomas to such veterans; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
Assemblywoman Leslie moved that the bill be referred to the Committee on Education.
