AN ACT relating to the Legislature; naming the Legislative Building after former Senator Lawrence E. Jacobsen; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
Whereas, Lawrence E. Jacobsen served in the Nevada Legislature for 40 years, longer than any other Legislator in the history of this state, including 16 years in the Assembly and 24 years in the Senate; and
Whereas, While in the Assembly, Lawrence Jacobsen chaired the Legislative Commission during the construction of the Legislative Building, then served as Speaker of the Assembly for the first session held in the building in 1971; and
Whereas, While in the Senate, Senator Jacobsen served on the committee that planned the major expansion and renovation of the Legislative Building in 1997; and
Whereas, Senator Jacobsen always devoted a substantial amount of time and attention to the maintenance and improvement of the Legislative Building and grounds, taking great pride in the appearance of the building; now, therefore,
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
2-1 Section 1. Chapter 218 of NRS is hereby amended by adding
2-2 thereto a new section to read as follows:
2-3 The Legislative Building in Carson City shall be known as the
2-4 Lawrence E. Jacobsen Legislative Building.
