AN ACT relating to the Legislature; requiring the disclosure of the name of each Legislator who requests the preparation of a legislative measure on the list of requests prepared by the Legislative Counsel; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. NRS 218.2475 is hereby amended to read as

1-2  follows:

1-3  218.2475  1.  On July 1 preceding each regular session of the

1-4  Legislature, and each week thereafter until the adjournment of the

1-5  Legislature sine die, the Legislative Counsel shall prepare a list of

1-6  all requests received by him, for the preparation of measures to be

1-7  submitted to the Legislature. The requests must be listed

1-8  numerically by a unique serial number which must be assigned to

1-9  the measures by the Legislative Counsel for the purposes of

1-10  identification in the order that he received the requests. Except as

1-11  otherwise provided in subsection 3, the list must only contain the

1-12  name of each requester, the date and a brief summary of the request.


2-1  2.  The Legislative Counsel Bureau shall make copies of the list

2-2  available to the public for a reasonable sum fixed by the Legislative

2-3  Commission upon the recommendation of the Director of the

2-4  Legislative Counsel Bureau.

2-5  3.  In preparing the list, the Legislative Counsel shall[:

2-6  (a) Not include the name of the Legislator who has requested the

2-7  preparation of a measure until:

2-8       (1) The particular measure is introduced in the Legislature;

2-9  or

2-10          (2) The Legislator requests that his name be disclosed as the

2-11  requester of the measure,

2-12  whichever occurs first.

2-13      (b) If] , if a standing or special committee of the Legislature

2-14  requests a measure on behalf of a Legislator or organization, include

2-15  the name of the standing or special committee and the name of the

2-16  Legislator or organization on whose behalf the measure was

2-17  originally requested.

 

2-18  H
