AN ACT relating to the State Legislature; prohibiting a person who is subject to regulation by an occupational licensing board from refusing to provide service to a current or former Legislator based on the vote or abstention of that Legislator on any proposed legislation or other matter on which a vote is taken; providing that a violation constitutes grounds for disciplinary action by the appropriate occupational licensing board; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. Chapter 218 of NRS is hereby amended by adding

1-2  thereto a new section to read as follows:

1-3  1.  A person who is a member of any profession, occupation

1-4  or business regulated by an occupational licensing board pursuant

1-5  to title 54 of NRS shall not refuse to provide service to a current or

1-6  former Legislator based on the vote or abstention of that

1-7  Legislator on any proposed legislation or other matter on which a

1-8  vote is taken.

1-9  2.  A violation of subsection 1 constitutes grounds for

1-10  disciplinary action by the appropriate occupational licensing


2-1  board against the person who commits the violation. The

2-2  occupational licensing board may take any disciplinary action

2-3  against the person, including, without limitation, the imposition of

2-4  any monetary penalty, that the board is otherwise authorized to

2-5  take against that person when grounds exist for disciplinary

2-6  action.

2-7  Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
