AN ACT relating to the office of the commissioner of civil marriages; revising the provisions governing the hours of operation for the office of the commissioner of civil marriages in certain larger counties; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

    Section 1. NRS 122.183 is hereby amended to read as follows:

    122.183  [1.  In a county whose population is 400,000 or

 more, the hours of operation for the office of the commissioner of

 civil marriages must be the same as the hours of the office in which

 marriage licenses are issued at the county seat.

    2.  In a county whose population is less than 400,000, the] The

 board of county commissioners may, by ordinance, determine the

 hours of operation for the office of the commissioner of civil

 marriages.

    Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
