AN ACT relating to time; exempting the State of Nevada from the provisions of the federal law requiring daylight saving time; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. Chapter 234 of NRS is hereby amended by adding

1-2  thereto a new section to read as follows:

1-3  1.  The State of Nevada exempts itself from the provisions of

1-4  15 U.S.C. § 260a(a) requiring the advancement of time during the

1-5  period commencing at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of April of each

1-6  year and ending at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October of each

1-7  year, commonly known as daylight saving time.

1-8  2.  During the period described in subsection 1, the State of

1-9  Nevada and all political subdivisions thereof, shall observe the

1-10  standard time otherwise applicable for the time zone in which the

1-11  State is situated in accordance with the provisions of 15 U.S.C. §§

1-12  260 et seq., the solar time of the 120th meridian west of

1-13  Greenwich, commonly known as Pacific standard time.

1-14      Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
