REMARKS FROM THE FLOOR

Senator James requested that his remarks be entered in the Journal.

I want to address the remarks that were published in the newspaper this week regarding the debate we had over committee referrals last week. My remarks stating that if the bills regarding nuclear waste went to the Transportation Committee, they would be buried. I do not know if I actually said that. If I did, it was probably too strong a statement, and I want the legislative body and the Chairman of Transportation to know that I respect their jurisdiction and discretion. I know those bills will be handled however the Chairman directs.
