THE NINETEENTH DAY

Carson City (Friday), February 23, 2001

Assembly called to order at 10:37 a.m.

    Mr. Speaker presiding.

    Roll called.

All present except Assemblymen Collins and Ohrenschall, who were excused.

Prayer by the Chaplain, Reverend Albert Tilstra.

O Lord, teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Save these men and women, the chosen of the people, from the tyranny of the nonessential, from the weary round of that which saps strength, frays nerves, shortens life, and adds nothing to their usefulness to You and to the work they must do for this State. Help them to give themselves to the important and to recognize the trivial when they see it. Give them the courage to say “No” to everything that makes it more difficult to say “Yes” to You. In Your Holy Name we pray.

Amen.

Pledge of allegiance to the Flag.

Assemblywoman Buckley moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.

    Motion carried.
