    Good morning, Father. Well, here we are again. Somehow, it seems the same, yet somehow it seems different. We are excited about the prospects of the next months, but we are fearful too. We are excited about the confidence that the voters have placed in us, but may we be awed and reverenced by Your very presence among us. Bless us, O Lord.

    Assemblywoman Buckley moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.

    Assembly Bill No. 64—AN ACT relating to education; requiring the boards of trustees of school districts and the governing bodies of charter schools to exempt pupils from taking certain achievement and proficiency examinations administered in the public schools upon the request of a parent; requiring the state board of education to prescribe alternative criteria for the evaluation of pupils who are exempt from the examinations for promotion to the next higher grade and receipt of a high school diploma; providing that certain pupils may be retained more than one time in the same grade; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assemblyman Hettrick moved that the bill be referred to the Committee on Education.

    Assembly Bill No. 65—AN ACT making an appropriation to Clark County for the support of adult day care centers of the Economic Opportunity Board of Clark County; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 66—AN ACT making an appropriation to the City of North Las Vegas for the support of Nevada Partners; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 67—AN ACT making an appropriation to the Clark County School District for the purchase of a web-based educational system for the instruction of pupils and the professional development of educators; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 68—AN ACT making an appropriation to the City of North Las Vegas for the development of the El Camino Real Cultural Center; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 69—AN ACT relating to children; imposing a surcharge on each payment of child support collected by a district attorney to be used for programs for the mentoring of children; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 70—AN ACT making an appropriation to the Housing Authority of the City of Las Vegas for certain construction projects that will provide affordable housing for senior citizens; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 71—AN ACT making an appropriation to Clark County for new facilities at the Spring Mountain Youth Camp; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assembly Bill No. 72—AN ACT relating to public works; making plans, drawings, specifications, maps, reports and other instruments of service prepared by a design professional for a public work the property of the State of Nevada; authorizing the reuse of such plans, drawings, specifications, maps, reports and other instruments of service for another public work; requiring that a design professional waive his right to ownership of the copyright for the plans, drawings, specifications, maps, reports and other instruments of service prepared for a public work; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

    Assemblyman Marvel moved that the bill be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
