THE Nineteenth Day
Carson City (Friday), February 19, 1999
Assembly called to order at 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Speaker presiding.
Roll called.
All present except Assemblymen Humke, Marvel and Williams, who were excused.
Prayer by the Chaplain, The Reverend Bruce Henderson.
I once asked my then school-aged daughters their favorite day of the week. Expecting them to say it was Saturday, I was surprised when they told me that their favorite day was Friday. I believe they responded that way because of the idea of expectation, promise and hope for great things to come on the weekend. So, God, here we are, and it is Friday. On this our nineteenth day here, we still have hope and expectations. May it not diminish as the time wears on, and may this weekend offer us rest and resuscitation. For after all, You took a day of rest too.
Amen.
Pledge of allegiance to the Flag.
Assemblyman Perkins moved that further reading of the Journal be dispensed with, and the Speaker and Chief Clerk be authorized to make the necessary corrections and additions.
Motion carried.
