AN ACT making an appropriation to the Division of Child and Family Services of the Department of Human Resources to provide financial assistance to adoptive parents of children with special needs under certain circumstances; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1 There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to the Division of Child and Family Services of the Department of Human Resources to provide financial assistance to the adoptive parents of children with special needs which are not discovered until after the adoption:
For the fiscal year 1997-1998 $27,002
For the fiscal year 1998-1999 $74,256
Sec. 2 Any balance of the sums appropriated by section 1 of this act remaining at the end of the respective fiscal years must not be committed for expenditure after June 30 and reverts to the state general fund as soon as all payments of money committed have been made.
Sec. 3 This act becomes effective on July 1, 1997.
