AN ACT relating to state employees; increasing the authorized travel expenses for certain employees at specified correctional centers and conservation camps; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1 NRS 209.183 is hereby amended to read as follows:
209.183In addition to his regular salary, each person employed by the department of prisons or the division of forestry of the state department of conservation and natural resources at the Southern Nevada Correctional Center, the Southern Desert Correctional Center, the Indian Springs Conservation Camp, or the [proposed] Jean Conservation Camp is entitled to receive, as compensation for travel expenses, not more than [$6] $7.50 for each day he reports to work if his residence is more than 25 miles from the respective facility. The total cost for compensation for travel expenses authorized by this section must not exceed the amount specially appropriated for this purpose.
Sec. 2 This act becomes effective on July 1, 1997.
