AN ACT relating to the commission for the preservation of wild horses; designating the commission as the appropriate wildlife agency of this state to consult with the Secretary of the Interior for certain purposes relating to wild horses and burros in this state; making a technical change; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1 NRS 501.020 is hereby amended to read as follows:
501.020 [As] Except as otherwise provided in NRS 504.430, or unless the context otherwise requires, as used in this Title, "commission" means the board of wildlife commissioners.
Sec. 2 NRS 504.485 is hereby amended to read as follows:
504.485 The [wildlife agencies] commission is hereby designated as the appropriate wildlife agency of this state [which] to consult with the Secretary of the Interior pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 1333(b)(1) regarding wild horses and burros in this state . [, shall] If the Secretary of the Interior consults with the commission pursuant to that section, the commission shall confer with the [commission regarding those consultations] division regarding that consultation and allow the [commission] division to participate in [those consultations] that consultation to the extent possible.
Sec. 3 This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
