AN ACT relating to fishing licenses; providing for a reduced fee for a fishing license for a person with a severe mental disability; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1 NRS 502.245 is hereby amended to read as follows:
502.245 1. The division shall , upon proof satisfactory of the requisite facts and payment of the applicable fee, issue [any] :
(a) Any hunting or fishing license or combined hunting and fishing license authorized [under the provisions of] by this chapter [, upon proof satisfactory of the requisite facts and payment of the applicable fee,] to any person who has resided in this state:
[(a)] (1) For the 6-month period immediately preceding the date of his application for a license and:
[(1)] (I) Has a severe physical disability; or
[(2)] (II) Has attained his 12th birthday but has not attained his 16th birthday; or
[(b)] (2) Continuously for 5 years immediately preceding the date of this application for a license and is 65 years of age or older.
(b) Any fishing license authorized by this chapter to any person who has resided in this state for the 6-month period immediately preceding the date of his application for a license and has a severe mental disability.
2. The division shall charge and collect for such a:

Hunting license $4
Fishing license 4
Combined hunting and fishing license 7

3. For the purposes of this section [, "severe] :
(a) "Severe mental disability" means a mental disability that materially limits the person's ability to engage in gainful employment.
(b) "Severe physical disability" means a physical disability [which] that materially limits the person's ability to engage in gainful employment.
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 1997.
