AN ACT relating to state highways; providing for the designation of Six-Mile Canyon Road in Storey and Lyon counties as a state highway; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1 Upon the written request of the boards of county commissioners of Storey County and Lyon County, the Director of the Department of Transportation shall take such actions as are necessary pursuant to NRS 408.285 to designate Six-Mile Canyon Road in Storey and Lyon counties as a state highway. Upon recordation of the appropriate agreement between the director and the counties, the ownership of the road is transferred to the department. Upon the transfer, the department shall improve the road to meet applicable state standards and thereafter provide for its maintenance as a part of the state highway system.
Sec. 2 This act becomes effective on July 1, 1997.
