MINUTES OF THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON TAXATION Sixty-eighth Session July 2, 1995 The Senate Committee on Taxation was called to order by Chairman Sue Lowden, at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, July 2, 1995, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. Pitlock, Executive Director, Department of Taxation Chairman Lowden opened the hearing on Assembly Bill (A.B.) 671. ASSEMBLY BILL 671: Provides exemption from property tax for certain tangible personal property used in business. (BDR 32-2055) Michael A. Pitlock, Executive Director, Department of Taxation referred to this bill as a means of deleting the confusion and enabling the compliance of the law. He said, "The provisions cost more than the actual collections... The local assessors are in favor of this bill." Further, there would be "$1.8 million statewide for local governments" if this measure became law; and finally, Mr. Pitlock recommended the effective date to be "July 1, 1996." SENATOR AUGUSTINE MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 671. SENATOR ADLER SECONDED THE MOTION.
