Shaffer COMMITTEE MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Joseph M. Neal, Jr. STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Diane Rea, Committee Secretary OTHERS PRESENT: Senator Bob Coffin, District No. 3 Senator Dina Titus, District No. 7 Senator O'Donnell opened the hearing on Senate Bill (S.B.) 377. SENATE BILL 377: Revises provisions relating to licensing and registration of certain vehicles. (BDR 43-567) Senator O'Donnell attempted to explain to the committee why the Department of Motor Vehicles and Public Safety (DMV&PS) had decided that due to funding and the fact that they will have to recall all drivers' licenses, they do not want this bill to require unique numbers for everyone's driver's license. Senator Titus, District No. 7, interrupted saying DMV&PS will do what the bill requires, but they need money. Senator O'Donnell tried to explain again that DMV&PS cannot change the driver's license number for everyone at once. Senator Bob Coffin, District No. 3, said he had spoken with Bruce Glover from DMV&PS and was told they want this bill to pass. Senator Titus argued that most people do not want to have their driver's license changed. Senator O'Donnell stated that he is unable to get a word in on this bill and closed the hearing at 11:55 p.m. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED: _____________________ ___ Diane Rea, Committee Secretary APPROVED BY: _____________________________________ Senator William R.
