MINUTES OF THE
	SENATE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION

	Sixty-eighth Session
	March 28, 1995


The Senate Committee on Transportation was called to order by Chairman William 
R. O'Donnell, at 1:35 p.m., on Tuesday, March 28, 1995, in Room 226 of the 
Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada.  Exhibit A is the Agenda.  Exhibit B is the 
Attendance Roster.

Senator O'Donnell asked for introduction of Bill Draft Request (BDR) 43-1468 
(Exhibit C).

Bill Draft Request 43-1468:	Revises requirements for maintaining proof of 
financial responsibility after reinstatement or 
restoration of driver's license, permit or 
registration.

Senator O'Donnell explained that he did not get the BDR in within the time frame 
and needs a committee introduction.

SENATOR NEAL MOVED TO INTRODUCE BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-1468.

SENATOR PORTER SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS WASHINGTON AND JACOBSEN 
WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator O'Donnell stated that Mr. Mendoza and Mr. Denio from the Public Service 
Commission are testifying upstairs.  They want to request a bill draft.

Senate Bill 119:	Revises provisions relating to discloser of odometer reading of 
motor vehicle and certain other information when ownership of 
motor vehicle is transferred.  (BDR 43-1317)

Senator O'Donnell stated that the yellow copy (Exhibit D) is a technical amendment 
to the bill.

SENATOR NEAL MOVED TO AMEND AND DO PASS SENATE BILL 119.

SENATOR LEE SECONDED THE MOTION

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS WASHINGTON AND JACOBSEN 
WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senate Bill 172:	Provides statutory authority for department of motor vehicles 
and public safety to deny, suspend or revoke license of fleet 
station.  (BDR 40-584)

SENATOR NEAL MOVED TO DO PASS SENATE BILL 172.

SENATOR SHAFFER SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS WASHINGTON AND JACOBSEN 
WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Assembly Bill 27:		Revises provisions relating to proof of identity required 
for issuance of instruction permit, driver's license or 
identification card.  (BDR 43-589)


Senator O'Donnell stated the blue copy (Exhibit E) is the amendment to this bill.

SENATOR NEAL MOVED TO AMEND AND DO PASS ASSEMBLY BILL 27.

SENATOR LEE SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS WASHINGTON AND JACOBSEN 
WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

Senator Neal asked what the gentlemen from the Public Service Commission are 
asking for in their BDR.

Senator O'Donnell explained that they are asking to respond to the federal 
deregulation of motor carriers.

SENATOR NEAL MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN TO REQUEST 
THE BILL DRAFT REQUEST FOR THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.

SENATOR SHAFFER SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED.  (SENATORS WASHINGTON AND JACOBSEN 
WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)
