ASSEMBLY BILL 132: Revises provisions governing crimes relating to federal food stamps. (BDR 15-845) Senator James informed the committee that this bill was a food stamp crime bill. SENATOR TITUS MOVED NOT TO RECEDE IN THE SENATE AMENDMENT TO A.B. 132. SENATOR LEE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED. (SENATORS MCGINNESS AND WASHINGTON WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.) ***** Chairman James opened the hearing Assembly Bill (A.B.) 606. ASSEMBLY BILL 606: Revises provisions governing criminal and civil liability for crimes motivated by certain characteristics of victim. (BDR 15-1642) SENATOR TITUS MOVED NOT TO RECEDE IN THE SENATE AMENDMENT TO A.B. 606. SENATOR ADLER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ***** Chairman James opened the hearing on Senate Bill (S.B.) 582. SENATE BILL 582: Resolves conflicts among various legislative measures of this session. (BDR S-2167) Senator James asked Brenda Erdoes, Legislative Counsel, to address this bill. She informed the committee and the public that this was a straight conflict issue. SENATOR MCGINNESS MOVED TO DO PASS S.B. 582. SENATOR LEE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ***** Chairman James opened the hearing on Assembly Bill (A.B.) 467. ASSEMBLY BILL 467: Revises provisions governing aid to certain victims of crime. (BDR 16-1757) Margaret Springgate, Legal Counsel, Governor's Office, reiterated that this was a bill for victims of crime. She stated that there will be a limit of between $15,000 and $20,000. SENATOR LEE MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 467. SENATOR PORTER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ***** Chairman James opened the hearing on Assembly Bill (A.B.) 676. ASSEMBLY BILL 676: Prohibits certain advertising concerning prostitution. (BDR 15-2111) Sam McMullen, Lobbyist, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, stated that this is a "gutted bill...which relates to crime in prostitution." He continued to testify that this bill has the support of the district attorney, the attorney general, and many others. Mr. McMullen concluded his remarks by saying, "For the record, George Flint supports this bill." The following people were present and asked to state for the record that they too were in support of A.B. 676: Lt. Phillip Galeoto, Lobbyist, City of Reno; Lt. Bill Cavagnero, Lobbyist, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department; Ben Graham, Lobbyist, Nevada District Attorneys Association; and Punam Mathur, Lobbyist, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. SENATOR LEE MOVED TO DO PASS A.B. 676. SENATOR PORTER SECONDED THE MOTION.
