MINUTES OF THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY Sixty-eighth Session June 28, 1995 The Senate Committee on Judiciary was called to order by Chairman Mark A. James, at 5:35 p.m., on Wednesday, June 28, 1995, on the Senate floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster. Lee STAFF MEMBER PRESENT: Joan Thran, Committee Secretary Senator James asked the committee to request an amendment to Senate Bill (S.B.) 292 to remove all of section 1, from the bill except the part that pertains to the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Discussion followed. SENATE BILL 292: Allows public bodies to hold closed meetings regarding recruitment and selection of public employees. SENATOR ADLER MOVED TO REQUEST AN AMENDMENT TO S.B. 292. SENATOR WASHINGTON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. ***** Senate James asked the committee to request amendments to Senate Bill (S.B.) 416, Assembly Bill (A.B.) 317 and Assembly Bill (A.B.) 393. Discussion followed. SENATE BILL 416: Makes various changes regarding sentencing of persons convicted of felonies. ASSEMBLY BILL 317: Makes various changes related to juvenile courts, sentencing, crimes and punishments. ASSEMBLY BILL 393: Makes various changes related to possession of firearms by children and increases penalty for sale of certain firearms to children. SENATOR ADLER MOVED TO REQUEST AMENDMENTS TO S.B. 416, A.B. 317 AND A.B. 393. SENATOR LEE SECONDED THE MOTION.
