Brian Gresh, Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Clark County, explained he had submitted formal testimony on behalf of David Parks, Assistant Director, RTC of Clark County (Exhibit C). He pointed out a couple of highlights, most notably the two RTCs in both Washoe and Clark County. They have to implement public transportation services that not only meet federal transportation and clean air laws but more importantly the demands of the citizens who are served. Mr. Gresh referenced a letter from Assemblyman Richard Perkins (Exhibit D) recommending passage of S.B. 349. Mrs. Chowing read same aloud. Responding to Mrs. Chowing's inquiry as to a possible fiscal note, Mr. Gresh said there was none. Mrs. Segerblom, Assembly District 22, spoke in support of S.B. 349. Her written testimony is submitted as Exhibit E. Mrs. Chowning asked Mr. Gresh to elaborate on service and price. He responded service would be along the lines of the para-transit...the 15 passenger van type situation where one would call the day before to make a reservation. Fees have yet to be determined but would be in a moderate range. Mr. Allard questioned whether plans for specific geographic areas have been formalized. Mrs. Segerblom noted there was a map done with the original testimony in the Senate outlining need. Stephanie Tyler, RTC Washoe County, explained Section 1 of S.B. 349 directly affected them. They have worked with their counterpart, RTC of Clark County, and had no objection with the language; She noted Section 2 dealt exclusively with Clark County. Mrs. Chowning declared the subcommittee hearing closed on S.B. 349. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED: Christine Shaw, Committee Secretary Assembly Committee on Transportation June 24, 1995 Page
