King, Fiscal Division Ted Zuend, Fiscal Division Chuck Bosch, Department of Transportation Bill Gosnell, Administrative Services, Department of Motor Vehicles Gary Wolff, Highway Patrol ASSEMBLY BILL 422 - Revises provisions relating to state highway fund and funding for department of motor vehicles and public safety and administration of state highways. After hearing extensive testimony the subcommittee requested the individuals from Department of Transportation, Department of Motor Vehicles, Fiscal Division and Highway Patrol return at a later hearing with recommendations about the following concerns: What happens if the fund is terminated and where would the money go. What would happen if the fund was just left in place. What would happen if actual money from registrations were placed in the fund. In addition the subcommittee wanted trooper numbers brought up to parity. They also wanted all the money in the supplemental fund (481.145) to go to the Highway Patrol should the fund be terminated. In conclusion, the subcommittee delayed any recommendation on A.B. 422 to allow another hearing on the bill and presentation of recommendations from the individuals testifying today. The delay would also allow action by the Senate on a similar measure. RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED: Terry Horgan, Committee Secretary APPROVED BY: Assemblywoman Marcia de Braga, Chairman Assembly Committee on Health and Human Services April 25, 1995 Page
