MINUTES OF THE ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS AND PROCEDURES Sixty-eighth Session June 24, 1995 The Committee on Elections and Procedures met in the Assembly Chambers behind the bar on Saturday, June 24, 1995, at 2:01 p.m., for the purpose of approving four interim studies. A quorum was present. The motion was made to approve four interim studies for the Assembly which are A.C.R. 33, A.C.R. 38, A.B. 538, and A.C.R. 49. Assemblywoman Lambert asked why only four studies could be done, and Chairman Giunchigliani stated the intent was to do more comprehensive studies with more people and more meetings. It was explained that the Senate also moved to amend each measure to include a provision that would require a majority vote of the members of the study committee of each legislative house to approve any recommendation for the drafting of a bill draft request. ASSEMBLYMAN ALLARD MOVED FOR APPROVAL OF FOUR INTERIM STUDIES FOR THE ASSEMBLY WHICH ARE A.C.R. 33, A.C.R. 38, A.B. 538, and A.C.R. 49. ASSEMBLYMAN FETTIC SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED. ASSEMBLYWOMAN LAMBERT AND ASSEMBLYMAN PRICE ABSTAINED FROM VOTING. * * * * * * * * * Assemblyman Dini objected to that restriction and so the Assembly did not concur with requiring a majority vote for Bill Draft Requests. The Committee Chairmen will discuss the matter with the Senate. There being no further business to come before committee, the meeting was adjourned at 2:16 p.m. Assembly Committee on Elections and Procedures June 24, 1995 Page 2 RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED: Bobbie Mikesell, Committee Secretary APPROVED BY: Assemblyman Jack D.
