FLOOR MINUTES OF THE ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE Sixty-eighth Session June 27, 1995 The Assembly Committee on Commerce was called to order on the floor of the Assembly at 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 1995, by the presiding Chairman, Sandra Tiffany, to take action on the following bills. Present were: Assemblymen Arberry, Brower, Buckley, Fettic, Hettrick, Perkins, Schneider, Spitler and Tiffany. SENATE BILL 491- 1st Reprint - Provides for binding arbitration of disputes arising under certain contracts relating to insurance or construction. ASSEMBLYMAN TIFFANY MOVED TO AMEND (EXHIBIT A) AND DO PASS S.B. 419 - FIRST REPRINT. ASSEMBLYMAN ARBERRY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED. (ASSEMBLYMEN BUCKLEY, BROWER AND PERKINS VOTED NO, ALL OTHERS VOTED YES.) SENATE BILL 506 - 2nd Reprint - Provides for registration and regulation of registered interior designers. ASSEMBLYMAN PERKINS MOVED TO AMEND (EXHIBIT B) AND DO PASS S.B. 506 - SECOND REPRINT. ASSEMBLYMAN ARBERRY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY BY THOSE PRESENT. SENATE BILL 517 - Revises provisions governing retail installment sales. ASSEMBLYMAN ARBERRY MOVED TO AMEND (EXHIBIT C) AND DO PASS S.B. 517. ASSEMBLYMAN TIFFANY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY BY THOSE PRESENT. SENATE BILL 516 - Revises provisions governing credit cards issued by financial institutions. ASSEMBLYMAN TIFFANY MOVED TO DO PASS S.B. 516. ASSEMBLYMAN BROWER SECONDED THE MOTION THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY BY THOSE PRESENT. SENATE BILL 557 - Authorizes optometrists to form certain business relationships with physicians. ASSEMBLYMAN PERKINS MOVED TO DO PASS S.B. 557. ASSEMBLYMAN SCHNEIDER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY BY THOSE PRESENT.
