The Research Library has not compiled a legislative history for the bill I am researching.  Where do I go from here?

If you are researching a bill that is from 1985 or a more recent session, you will be able to find at least part of the information you need online.  For 1997-2003, you can find everything but the exhibits to the committee minutes.  Starting in 2003, you can even get most of the exhibits.  (For exhibits longer than 15-20 pages, sometimes only the first page was scanned.)

If you are researching a bill that is older than 1993, you will be spending some time in the nearest law library.  Here is a list of libraries where you can find the necessary materials.  If you are in the Carson area, we would be more than happy to help you through this process in person.
