CHAPTER 1
AN ACT relating to legislators’ retirement; repealing the provisions of Assembly Bill No. 820 of the 65th session of the Nevada Legislature that relate to the Legislators’ Retirement Law; directing the public employees’ retirement system to cease payment of the higher benefits calculated pursuant to the repealed provisions; requiring the public employees’ retirement system to refund money paid to purchase additional service credit during the period the repealed provisions were in effect and to revoke the purchased credit; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE
AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Sections 11 to 15, inclusive, of chapter 481, Statutes of Nevada 1989, are hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. The provisions of this act that repeal increases in benefits paid pursuant to chapter 218 of NRS apply to all payments of benefits by the public employees’ retirement system after the effective date of this act. The public employees’ retirement system shall reduce all benefits paid pursuant to chapter 218 of NRS after the effective date of this act accordingly.
Sec. 3. The public employees’ retirement system shall refund all money accepted by the system between June 23, 1989, and the effective date of this act from a legislator or former legislator for the purchase of additional service credit. The system shall include interest at the rate established pursuant to NRS 99.040 in the refund. The additional service credit for which the money was paid to the system must not be included in the calculation of benefits paid by the system after the effective date of this act.
Sec. 4. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.

AN ACT making an appropriation to the legislative fund; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN SENATE
AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the state general fund to the legislative fund created pursuant to NRS 218.085 the sum of $12,000.
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
